Volunteerism
The practice of doing work for good causes, without being paid for it
-Cambridge DictionaryOur Aim
SALT aims to empower local volunteers to fulfill their civic responsibilities safely, peacefully, and effectively. By educating our volunteers and the public, we make them much safer, and empower volunteers with a courage only found in organized movements. Our volunteers ultimately work to secure constitutional rights for themselves and their neighbors, to keep federally funded kidnappers out of our home.
How Do We Recruit?
We recruit primarily by personal invitation, verbally, but we also respond to messsages. Our volunteers are instructed to invite friends with discretion; this is to limit bad actors and infighting. If you find yourself wondering if you belong in this organization, ask yourself these three questions:
Am I or my neighbors in danger of federally paid kidnapppers?
Do I live or spend time near Pope County, Arkansas?
Do I need to act now?
If you answered “yes” to all 3, you’re encouraged to reach out.
Manuals
The first thing asked of SALT, was the production of an “operation order.” Our operations are not violent, so we thought that was unnecessary. We decided a Manual was in order instead. The founders of SALT are well aware of rampant classism, and its effects on the accessibility of printed media. This PDF can be printed on any standard 8.5”×11” copy paper with any printer that prints that size. Do not print front-and-back. This article will print on 3 pages. After printing, do the following:
Hold a page in portrait orientation.
Fold the page horizontally, sometimes called “hamburger style,” creasing over the vertical center with the blank faces facing themselves.
Fold again perpendicularly over the horizontal center.
Repeat 1-3 for each page.
Nestle spreads in numerical order, by page number.
Bind with staples along the outside of the spine, or with twine through the center of the center spread and the back of the spine.
Is There A Problem?
If you can’t donate, volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, there’s still much to do. Vote. Register your friends and family to vote. Get them out to vote. Phonebank. Canvas for candidates. Write letters. Report ICE to us. Tell your friends and family to report ICE to us. Join your county party; have a say locally. Show up to meetings. Organize them if you don’t have any. Call your elected officials. You dont have an excuse. Don’t do nothing and idle while evil prevails.
These People are our servants; remind them.
